Feb 2026: Using Digital Tools to Strengthen Proficiency Testing Programs: Lessons from Rwanda

Proficiency Testing (PT) is a core component of laboratory quality systems, ensuring accurate and reliable diagnostic results across laboratory networks. To strengthen PT programs, countries are adopting digital tools such as Electronic Proficiency Testing (ePT) tool to improve the way PT data are collected, reviewed, and used for quality improvement.

As the global HIV response evolves, many countries are shifting from donor-supported programs to nationally led efforts. This transition presents a valuable opportunity to enhance the sustainability and efficiency of rapid diagnostic testing, while maintaining high standards of quality. Programs are increasingly focused on optimizing resources, integrating services, and aligning quality assurance with broader health system goals.

October 2025: Developing a Pathogen-Agnostic Stepwise Site Checklist for Rapid Testing Quality Improvement: Lessons Learned from Two Countries

Site supervision is critical for ensuring quality testing, particularly in point-of-care (POC) rapid diagnostic testing. Traditionally, site supervision checklists at POC have been tailored to specific diseases and have been lacking with some diseases. This limits their adaptability across different pathogens.

August 2025: Advancing Proficiency Testing Implementation Together, The Nigeria and Myanmar Experience

In the inaugural August 2025 RTCQI CoP Session, there will be key presentations from Nigeria and Myanmar highlighting how they have been able to implement and expand HIV Proficiency Testing to meet evolving needs of HIV diagnosis and to ensure the sustainability of these programs within their countries.
